Pharmaceutical Marketing: Drug Companies Embracing Podcasting

Pharmaceutical companies famously "fear the blogosphere" but are less wary of podcasting.  This is because podcasts provide drug firms with a level of control that is difficult to attain with a blog.  Following are two of the companies that are currently producing podcasts for medical education and disease state awareness purposes:

- Eli Lilly and Company:  The company is producing a series of podcasts on pancreatic cancer (available on iTunes).  The company makes pancreatic cancer therapy Gemzar.

- Gilead: The company is sponsoring a series of video podcasts on HIV education called "Live With It."
